Anno imperii Augusti XLVII, Herodes morbo intercutis aquae, et scatentibus toto corpore vermibus, miserabiliter et digne moritur, pro quo substitutus ab Augusto, filius eius Archelaus, regnavit annis IX, id est, usque ad ipsius Augusti finem. Tunc enim non ferentibus ultra, sed accusantibus apud Augustum ferocitatem eius Iudaeis, in Viennam urbem Galliae relegatur, et ad minuendam Iudaici regni potentiam, insolentiamque domandam, quatuor fratres eius pro eo sunt tetrarchae creati; Herodes, Antipater, Lysias et Philippus, quorum Philippus, et Herodes, qui Antipas prius nuncupabatur, etiam vivente Archelao tetrarchae fuerant ordinati.
